Who needs it?

A regulated agent carries out security controls on cargo and mail before it is loaded, on behalf of airlines or other regulated agents. An airline loads a shipment only if it has carried out the security controls itself or if they are attested by a regulated agent or a known consignor. The status applies to freight forwarders, cargo agents, airlines and any company that takes on these controls.

Main steps

Approval is granted by the relevant authorities for a limited period, based on the company's security program and how it is applied. It is then subject to regular inspections and must be renewed.

1. Security program

Organization and security manager, procedures for security controls and cargo protection, staff recruitment and training, internal quality control.

2. Compliance

Fitting out premises and access points, security control equipment, background checks, staff training.

3. Review

The relevant authorities review the file, then inspect the site.

4. Approval

Granted for a limited period, with inspections throughout, then renewed.
