Who needs it?

A known consignor ships cargo or mail by air on its own behalf. Its procedures meet security requirements well enough for its shipments to leave already secured: the airline can accept them without carrying out the controls itself, because the known consignor attests to them. The status applies to companies that regularly send their own goods by air.

Main steps

Approval is granted by the relevant authorities for a limited period, based on the company's security program and how it is applied. It is then subject to regular inspections and must be renewed.

1. Security program

Organization and security manager, preparation and protection of shipments, access to shipping areas, staff training, internal quality control.

2. Compliance

Securing preparation and storage areas, access control, background checks, staff training.

3. Validation

A review of the program and an on-site check of how it is applied, before the relevant authorities decide.

4. Approval

Granted for a limited period, with regular follow-up, then renewed.
