Known supplier (KS)
Helping companies obtain and keep known supplier status for airport supplies, from the first application to renewal.
Who needs it?
Airport supplies are goods delivered to businesses located in a security restricted area, to be consumed, sold or used there. As a rule, they go through screening before entering the area. Those from a known supplier are exempt, provided they have undergone security controls and then stayed protected until they arrive. The status applies to manufacturers, wholesalers and carriers that deliver to the airside area, as well as to the shops and restaurants located there.
Main steps
The status is granted by the airport, based on the company's security program and how it is applied. It must then be maintained and renewed.
1. Security program
Organization and security manager, protection of goods, seals and tamper-evident measures, delivery into the security restricted area, quality control.
2. Compliance
Securing premises, vehicles and storage, access control, staff training.
3. Validation
A review of the program and an on-site check of how it is applied.
4. Designation
Inclusion on the airport's list of known suppliers for a limited period, then renewal.
